Meditation by Rev. Diane Rollert, 30 November, 2008
Spirit that connects us,
Presence in which we move,
Unspoken and unknowable:
In a moment’s silence
let all we are,
let all we feel,
be contained
like a lifetime expressed in a single teardrop.
Joys and sorrows fill this sanctuary,
Gratitude and regrets.
Thanks for the blessing of laughter,
for the gentle touch,
for the reassurance,
of those so loved;
Heartache for the things left unsaid
and undone,
the final goodbyes too often left unfinished,
and held inside too long.
The wheel of beginnings and endings turns
as it always does,
and sometimes we arrive too late
or not at all.
May we find solace here.
May we be supported by memories,
surrounded by love, forgiveness
and acceptance
that we are merely mortals
doing the best we can.
May we give thanks for those who do
what we cannot,
knowing that together
we round out
the circle of being.
