What's Happening Oct 20 - Oct 26, 2014

Join us for this Sunday's service, October 26th at 10:30 am, for Tabla and Tagore. We'll be celebrating the awe-filled poetry of Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore accompanied by the heartbeat drumming of internationally renowned tabla player, educator and composer Shawn Mativetsky.

Caroline's Open Collage workshop will meet this Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 am. Later on Saturday at 5 pm, please join our Minister, Diane Rollert, and our membership coordinator, Petrina Lee Poy, for a gathering for newcomers and recent members. The meal is also open to the entire UCM community.  Next Sunday, SECC will meet after the service on Sunday at 12:30 pm.

Carmina 
Choir rehearsal  
The choir will be preparing music for a December seasonal concert, which will include excerpts from Carmina Burana, HMS Pinafore, light works, humorous music and a sing-along.To be a member of Carmina, no ability to read music is necessary as learning aids are provided. Parts in Peace Choir rehearsal 
Sarah Albu will conduct weekly rehearsals to prepare the choir for our November Remembrance service. 

Saturday, October 25, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Garden Room
Open Collage Workshop (normally 1st Saturday of the month; this is an exception)
Caroline Balderston Parry anchors this workshop, held almost monthly. Drop in any time! The room (on the nursery level) will be set up with supplies and quiet music for the duration, but plan to give it at least two precious, soul-restoring hours. Bring a bag lunch if you want and any photos or other images you especially like. All are welcome!

Diwali, the Indian festival of lights and the New Year begins on October 23. This Sunday we'll celebrate the awe-filled poetry of Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore accompanied by the heartbeat drumming of internationally renowned tabla player, educator and composer Shawn Mativetsky. 
Our service includes the child dedication of Émilie Rose Régimbal, daughter of Kristin McKeown and Jean-Michel Régimbal. 

Sunday, October 26, after the 'Time for All Ages'
R.E.:  We will carry our pasta sauce and posters to the NDG Food Depot on Marlowe, just south of Sherbrooke. Depot staff member Susan Munro will show us around and let us help with the food distribution process. We will return to the church by noon. Any adults who want to join us are welcome!
