Meditation by Rev. Diane Rollert, 14 September 2014
Gather up your thoughts
and set them to the quiet side.
Open your heart to what calls you
to be present to your life,
to your breath,
to this day.
We each arrive with our burdens
and our stories to tell,
our joys and triumphs,
sadness and disappointments,
our pain and loss
to share or hold quietly to ourselves.
Some come seeking answers,
While others feel sure
they have found the right path.
Not one of us knows the final outcome of truth.
We can only live by our best guesses
and our wisest estimations.
We can only live by our aspirations.
This morning the air is crisp and cool
But the summer sun still shines down
upon this last week
before the autumn equinox will chase it away.
“Revel in our green,” whisper the trees and grass.
Our days are numbered,
but today we are here.
Be alive in this life,
in this day,
in this moment.
For right now, there is nothing else.
Let yourself be held by this quiet.
Allow yourself this moment of peace.
May the silence be the spirit of love that surrounds you.
