Meditation by Rev. Diane Rollert, February, 2016
Ground of Our Being,
Circle of Completion,
may we be witness to the truths
that have been shared with us today.
May what we have heard move us to listen,
and move us toward greater understanding.
May we find hope,
as we walk the path toward healing.
On this Valentines Day,
may we remember those we love,
and especially those who feel the loss of loved ones
weighing heavily upon their hearts.
May we stand as loving witness to the families
of the nearly 1200 Aboriginal women
who have gone missing
or have been murdered over these past 35 years,
whose absence is felt on this day
as many march this afternoon across Canada in solidarity,
whose absence is felt every day,
as so much remains unanswered and unsolved.
May we stand as loving witness to all the survivors
of the residential schools,
and to their families,
who know the trauma that is passed from generation to generation.
May we stand as loving witness
to those who are most deeply effected by these painful memories.
May we stand as loving witness to the courage of the generations
that continue to rise up in response,
reclaiming their voices and their rights.
May we stand as loving witness to the inherent worth and dignity
of all peoples.
