Parts in Peace Choir rehearsal
Everyone is welcome to join the UCM's designated Sunday Service Choir! All that is required is enthusiasm, a certain commitment to attend rehearsals in order not to let your colleagues down, and a binder and pencil. Our goal is to learn beautiful, accessible and fun songs from all styles and periods. We offer these songs to complement the service themes, generally once a month at a Sunday morning service. Recordings of voice parts for many of the songs we learn are available online at www.ucmtl.ca/choir-practice/

Children's Choir rehearsal
The children's choir is an informal and creative community music-making experience that uses movement, instruments (percussion, invented instruments) and song-writing based on themes of the Service. We are less like a choir and more like a singing club. There is no requirement to come every time to every rehearsal; singers may drop in and out. Everyone is encouraged to participate in some way.
Normally we meet on the first two Sundays of the month, with a presentation at Service on the second Sunday. This year, we begin on September 28 with a presentation on October 5. Looking forward to another year of great musical discoveries!

Sunday, September 28, after the' Time for All Ages' R.E.
Preschool children, younger and older grade school classes will begin work on a NDG Food Depot service project. We will be making veggie pasta sauce! Donations of glass jars with well-fitting lids are urgently needed. Yoghurt containers are also useful. We'll begin by making labels for our sauce and posters for the Depot. Please support this project by donating containers or ingredients (details in the R.E. newsletter).

Four Chairs: Engaging in Compassionate Communication
Rev. Diane Rollert and special guest, Guillaume Lanctôt-Bédard, coach in Authentic Dialogue.
How can we stay compassionately engaged in our relationships or in community when we experience disagreement or conflict? This week's special guest will get us started on a road toward authentic dialogue and compassionate communication. Join us to learn how four chairs could change your life. A more in-depth workshop following the service is open to all who wish to attend.
Music by Sandra Hunt.

Authentic Dialogue and Compassionate Communication Workshop
Led by Guillaume Lanctôt-Bédard, coach in Authentic Dialogue.
When we blame, criticize and moralize, we're not very likely to attract the compassion we need. So how do we re-frame the conversation when we feel dehumanized, judged or unheard? This workshop will provide some basic tools for learning how to engage in authentic and compassionate dialogue. We can hardly dream of peace in the world if we don't learn how to communicate well in our own back yard. What better way for us to take action in the world than to share this workshop together as a community?
Guillaume Lanctôt-Bédard will engage us in an opening exercise during worship at 10:30 am on September 28, and will then lead us in an afternoon workshop open to everyone. For more information, contact Rev. Diane Rollert
