Book Discussion Gro
A Woman in Jerusalem by A.B. Yehoshua is about the attempts by a man working for a human resources office to identify an unnamed Russian woman who was killed in a suicide bombing in Jerusalem. The book also tackles the issues surrounding the massive Russian immigration  to Israel in the 1990s. At once profoundly serious and highly entertaining, Yehoshua astonishes the reader with his masterly, often unexpected turns in the story and with his ability to get under the skin and into the soul of Israel.
New members welcome. Contact: Kathy Douglas, 514-488-9608

Lesbian Social Discussion Group

A Lesbian Social Discussion Group is underway at the Unitarian Church. It meets monthly on Friday evenings to socialize, to discuss topics of interest, and to provide a friendly place for lesbians to meet. This is a primarily English speaking group, although francophones are certainly welcome. We will have a different topic each time (e.g., discussion of lesbian books, films we've seen, topics of interest in current gay culture; we may also occasionally plan a potluck meal). I am facilitating the beginning of this group, but topics will evolve according to members' interests. I'm starting the group because I've found there's a scarcity of places in downtown Montreal for lesbians to gather on a regular basis.
Three more gatherings are planned in this first series, always on the second Friday of the month, i.e., April 10, May 8 and June 12. For more information and to offer suggestions, don't hesitate to contact me, Carole Tenbrink at 514-563-2429.
