Meditation for the Generations

Meditation by Rev. Diane Rollert, 22 March 2014

Hush my heart,
be still my thoughts.
The days and hours
can overflow
with worry,
with anxiety
for all that lies ahead.
Each generation worries
about the welfare of the next.
This is love,
a gift given to the future,
to call us not to be too resigned,
to challenge us to think
and feel,
to learn from our own mistakes
and from those of the past.
Out of stars,
out of dust,
out of life,
out of love,
out of past generations,
we come
to welcome the end of winter,
to embrace the promise of spring,
to wrestle with the questions,
to be mindful of the answers.
