Food! Belly Dancing! Poetry! Spring Themed Open Mic! Crafts! New Year Fire Ritual!
March 22nd, join us at UCM for an interactive contemporary Nowruz dinner party! Camellia Jahanshahi, our DREA in collaboration with the RE team and the Racial Justice Committee, invites you to share in her favorite holiday with a night of food, poetry, music, and art!
Norouz is the Persian New Year. A celebration of the Spring Equinox celebrated throughout the Middle East and North Africa. In the spirit of this cultural event, guests will be offered small booklets with different classical and some contemporary Persian poetry to share with each other throughout the night. Additionally, this event will have a loosely structured open mic aspect. If you would like to be officially slotted to share something please reach out to the address provided below. Otherwise feel free to bring something along the night off as there will be some open slots available for spur of the moment inspiration.
** Please note, this is a child/family friendly event centered around the coming of spring. Please keep your submissions and performances on theme and appropriate for our community members of all ages. **
We need your help to put this together! If you'd like to share your skills and time, signing up to help cook a dish is highly encouraged! Volunteer to help cook by signing up here.
Don't forget to include your email! We will send you the recipe breakdown for the dish you select, as needed. If you want to cook something that isn't on this list, feel free! Just let us know so we can plan accordingly!
