History and Neighbourhood

The Unitarian Church of Montreal is located in the historic and vibrant neighbourhood where NDG and Westmount meet. We are just steps from Vendôme metro, conveniently situated along the De Maisonneuve bike path, and only a block from Sherbrooke Street.

Our modern yet charming building is fully accessible, with wheelchair ramps from both the street and parking lot, an elevator to all levels, and accessible washrooms.

We offer a variety of warm, versatile spaces for events of all kinds—from intimate meetings and community gatherings to concerts, workshops, weddings, and memorials. Highlights include abundant natural light, renowned acoustics in our Sanctuary, a fully equipped A/V tech suite with excellent sound support and hybrid event capabilities, and flexible setups for both small and large groups.

Our kitchen and furniture inventory are fully equipped to support your event—so all you have to bring is yourself.

Parking is available in our private lot behind the building, with additional street and paid parking options nearby.

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary

  • Capacity: Seats 175, with additional overflow seating available.

  • Features:

    • Elegant vaulted ceiling providing a spacious yet intimate atmosphere.

    • Equipped with an advance A/V suite including broadcast capabilities, and an integrated screen. (A/V Technicians available to assist)

    • Abundant natural light during the day; adjustable lighting for evening events.

    • Historical grand piano

    • Excellent acoustics

    • Opens up onto Phoenix Hall

  • Ideal for: Weddings, memorials, concerts, movie screenings, conferences and large gatherings.​ Lay chaplains are available to assist.


Phoenix Hall

  • Capacity: Accommodates 115 people seated theater-style or 100 around 10 tables.

  • Features:

    • Upright piano available.

    • Suitable for receptions, business meetings, community events, parties, workshops, classes, etc.

  • Kitchen Access: Can be rented alongside the kitchen for events involving food preparation or service.

  • Opens up onto the Sanctuary


“Nursery” Room / Mutli-purpose Space

Capacity: Comfortably seats 30–40

  • Best For: Workshops, family programming, small meetings

  • Features:

    • Multipurpose space

    • Opens onto a small courtyard

    • Bright and flexible layout

    • Can include toys for children’s activities or be cleared

    • Smart TV for presentations

**A true favourite among clients; this bright, mid-sized room is perfect for everything from yoga classes to choir rehearsals and group meetings.


Kitchen

  • Rental Options:

    • With Phoenix hall (for events/receptions)

    • Separately for food prep or demos

  • Features:

    • Industrial stove and dishwasher

    • Fridge and pantry storage

    • Opens to parking lot for delivery access


Thomas Room

  • Capacity: Small groups (10–15 comfortably)

  • Best For: Board meetings, hybrid calls, intimate gatherings

  • Features:

    • Natural light

    • Smart TV with HDMI

    • Comfortable, quiet setting
